Best Practices
What HAPPY Reading Has for Me

HAPPY Reading values best practices, and we recognize there is more than one way to do anything well.

Virtually everything we provide at HAPPY Reading is rooted in research- and evidence-based best practices in reading education. We feature educators who have been recognized for excellence and write articles about programs, projects and approaches that tend to blend the best of what we know with creative approaches to accomplishing great literacy goals.

For specific advice on solid practices, be sure to read our Expertise area. All these articles are available for all HAPPY Reading guests during the month they are currently featured. After that, only registered members have access to the archived, complete texts.

We also feature two books for professional development at any given time. They can be found at the bottom of our Books area of recommended reading. http://www.happyreading.org/Books.htm

There are several others we recommend at all times for word study, vocabulary and guided (leveled) reading results. Those are located at the bottom of the Resources page. www.happyreading.org/Resources.htm

For your convenience, all of these books have links that allow you to click through to reputable online retailers or to a searchable library database, should you wish to acquire them.

We specialize in poems and reader's theater scripts that are designed to increase learner motivation and instructional efficiency.  In other words, we provide you another way to make your teaching (at home, at school or in the community) socially engaging and fun while addressing confidence, content, standards and overall communication skills all at the same time.  We believe that is excellent practice!  Nowhere else will you find all these areas addressed in an integrated fashion that honors the whole learner and best practices in literacy.

All our poems and scripts are immediately downloadable for registered members. Free samples are our gift to you.  We trust you will enjoy these with your learners.  And we look forward to your becoming a member and gaining access to the many thousands of pages of our catalog that grows steadily each month.

And referring friends, colleagues, other schools or other divisions can lead to even greater benefits for you and for them.
